Who issues apostilles in Türkiye?
In Türkiye, apostilles for administrative documents (such as civil registry records, diplomas and notarised translations) are issued by governorships (valilik) or district governorships (kaymakamlık). Apostilles for judicial documents (court decisions, criminal records) are issued by the justice commissions of the courts of first instance.
The competent authority depends on the type of document. We make sure the document has the required prior certifications and is submitted to the right authority.
Apostille or consular legalisation?
If the destination country is party to the Apostille Convention, an apostille is usually sufficient. For non-member countries (for example the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Iraq or Egypt) consular or embassy legalisation is required. Our country pages show the current status for each destination.

Can a foreign document be apostilled in Türkiye?
No. An apostille is always issued by the competent authority of the country that issued the document. For a foreign document we obtain the apostille in that country through our international network, then provide the certified translation and notarisation in Türkiye.
Does an apostilled document also need a translation?
Usually yes. The receiving country normally asks for a certified translation into its language, and some also require the translation itself to be apostilled. We clarify this for your specific file.
